Best AI receptionist for Australian tradies

Every call you miss on the tools can be a job that goes to the next tradie on Google. An AI receptionist answers in your business name, works out the job and either books it or sends you the lead. They differ a lot in price, in whether they can actually book into your job software, and in how much admin they handle beyond the phone. Here's how the options on HiVis AI compare.

Common questions

How much does an AI receptionist cost in Australia?

Of the tools listed here, published plans start around A$99–A$149 a month for roughly 100 calls or minutes (Chime Labs Essential A$99 + GST, Smoko Starter A$100 incl GST, Ajenta Solo A$149 + GST), and Chime Labs has a free plan for testing. Sophiie is quote-based. Check each vendor's site for current pricing.

Do I need a new phone number?

Usually not. Most AI receptionists work by forwarding calls from your existing mobile or business number, either for every call or only when you don't pick up.

Can an AI receptionist book jobs into my calendar?

Some can. Smoko books into Google Calendar, Chime Labs books into its own diary or Google Calendar and, on Pro, into job systems like ServiceM8 and Simpro. ServiceM8 and Jobber's own AI phone tools book inside those apps. Others, like Ajenta (unless you use Intelogy), take the details and send you the lead to call back.

Will callers know they're talking to AI?

It depends on the tool and your settings. Smoko, for example, tells callers they're speaking with an AI and that the call is recorded. Being upfront is the safer choice, and recording calls has consent rules that vary by state.
