Best AI SWMS generator for Australian tradies

A SWMS (Safe Work Method Statement) is required before high-risk construction work starts. AI tools can now draft one from a plain description of the job, but you are still responsible for checking it against the actual site and talking it through with your crew. Here's how the options on HiVis AI compare.

The tools in detail

SiteSafe AI

New 🇦🇺 AU-friendly

Aussie AI app that drafts SWMS, JSAs and risk assessments from a plain-English job description.

Verdict: A cheap, tradie-sized way to get SWMS and prestarts off paper. It's new, and every AI draft still needs a competent person to check it against the actual site.

Price: Tradie plan A$29/month (ex GST), up to 5 users. 7-day free trial, no card, no lock-in.

OneClickSWMS

New 🇦🇺 AU-friendly

Describe the job, AI drafts your state's SWMS, and the crew signs on by QR code. Pay per SWMS.

Verdict: Good if you only need the odd SWMS and want proper crew sign-on without another app. Per-document pricing gets dear if you write lots of them.

Price: Drafts are free. From A$39 per SWMS when you finalise (a complex high-risk SWMS uses 2). Plans available: see site.

REX AI

🇦🇺 AU-friendly

AI specialists for AU construction: REX Tradie (quotes, invoices, SWMS) and REX Builder.

Verdict: Interesting if you want a quick SWMS draft and a construction-aware AI chat. It's a newer product, so always check any SWMS against your state's WHS requirements.

Price: See site.

NO BULL

New 🇦🇺 AU-friendly

New Aussie platform for tradie quoting, AI bill parsing, cashflow and SWMS.

Verdict: Promising and very AU-focused, but it's a new, small player. We haven't verified its claims or testimonials. Run a real job through the free trial before moving your books.

Price: Solo A$49/month, Crew A$99/month (up to 10 staff), Business A$149/month (unlimited staff). 14-day free trial, no card.

Mitti (formerly SafetyCulture)

🇦🇺 AU-friendly

Inspections, checklists and safety reporting with an AI template builder and AI issue creation.

Verdict: The free plan is a no-brainer for digital site inspections and prestarts. Not a dedicated SWMS builder, but you can build SWMS-style templates.

Price: Free for small teams (up to 10). Premium $24/seat/month billed annually or $29 monthly (ex tax). Enterprise custom.

Dashpivot (Sitemate)

🇦🇺 AU-friendly

Flexible construction forms for SWMS, ITPs, prestarts and site diaries.

Verdict: Great if you want your own SWMS and paperwork digitised exactly as you do them now. More setup than a ready-made SWMS generator.

Price: Per contributor user. Example published rates (11–30 users): Standard A$28, Pro A$50, Premium A$72, Platinum A$94/user/month monthly, or less on a 1-year term. See site for your band.

HammerTech

🇦🇺 AU-friendly

Construction safety and compliance platform for builders and head contractors.

Verdict: Built for head contractors. If you're a subbie you'll get an invite, and it's free to you.

Common questions

Is an AI-generated SWMS compliant?

It can be a compliant starting point, but no tool knows your site. Under WHS law (or Victoria's OHS Act) the business doing the work must review the SWMS, adapt it to the site, consult the workers and revise it when the work changes. Treat any AI SWMS as a draft until a competent person has checked it.

What's the cheapest AI SWMS tool?

Of the tools listed here, Mitti has a free plan for small teams (inspections and checklists rather than a dedicated SWMS writer). For dedicated AI SWMS drafting, SiteSafe AI lists A$29/month ex GST for up to 5 users, and OneClickSWMS charges from A$39 per finalised SWMS with free drafts. Check each vendor's site for current pricing.

Do my workers need an app to sign a SWMS?

Not always. OneClickSWMS lets workers sign on by QR code or link with no account. SiteSafe AI uses a crew app with digital sign-off. Head-contractor platforms like HammerTech use their own induction and sign-on flow.

Does it work in Victoria?

Victoria uses the OHS Act 2004 rather than the model WHS Act. Tools that draft by state (such as OneClickSWMS) should reference the right laws, but always check the legislation named in your SWMS before you use it in Victoria.
